Enrolment Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

Welcome to Coastal First Aid (“we”, “us”, “our”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your enrolment and participation in our first aid courses (“Course”). By enroling in the Course, you agree to abide by these Terms.

2. Enrolment

2.1 Eligibility: To enrol in the Course, you must be at least 14 years of age. Some courses may have additional prerequisites, which will be detailed in the Course description on our website.

2.2 Enrolment Process: Enrolment is completed by submitting the online enrolment form and payment of the course fee. Your enrolment is confirmed once we have received your payment and processed your enrolment.

2.3 Payment: Full payment must be made prior to the commencement of the Course. All course fees are non-refundable, except as specified in Section 7.

2.4 Limitations: Your enrolment permits only you to attend the Course. If you require a carer or support person, they must also enrol in the same Course. To ensure fairness to other participants and our trainer, children are not permitted to attend the Course.

3. Unique Student Identifier (USI)

3.1 Provision: You must provide us a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) for your enrolment in the Course, along with your full name and date of birth that match your USI registration.

3.2 Failure To Provide: Failure to provide your USI and your USI details that match your USI record will render you ineligible to receive a Statement of Attainment (a certificate).

3.3 Consent: You consent to us and our Registered Training Organisation (RTO) partner, Healthcorp Pty Ltd, accessing your USI record for the purpose of USI lookup, verification and the recording of your assessment results.

3.4 USI Transcripts: The RTO uploads its training data only once per year to its State Training Authority. This may mean there is a significant time lag between when you complete your course and the result appearing on your USI VET transcript.

4. Course Delivery

4.1 Course Schedule: The Course will be delivered on the date and times specified on our website.

4.2 Course Changes: We reserve the right to amend the Course date, time, and venue. Any changes will be communicated to you in advance via email.

5. Participant Responsibilities

5.1 Attendance: You are required to attend the Course for its entire duration.

5.2 E-Learning: If your Course includes e-learning you are required to complete this prior to attending your practical session. Failure to complete the e-learning will result in ineligibility to attend the practical session.

5.3 Conduct: You must conduct yourself in a professional and respectful manner. We reserve the right to remove you if you disrupt the Course or breach our policies.

5.4 Venue Requirements: You must comply with any specific requirements of the Course venue. If your course is being held at a Club, you may be required to sign in if you are not a member. If you course is being held at a a licensed venue and you are under 18, you will require a guardian to escort you to and from our training room.

5.5 Identification: You must verify your identity at the practical session by presenting a valid form of identification. Acceptable forms of identification include an Australian driver’s license, an Australian or foreign passport, or a government-issued identity card from an Australian state or territory, such as a NSW Photo Card.

5.6 Health and Safety: You must disclose any medical conditions or disabilities that may affect your ability to participate in the Course. We accept no liability for any injuries or health issues that occur during the Course.

5.7 Illness and Sickness: To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, individuals who are acutely ill or unwell should refrain from attending the course. This includes, but is not limited to, infections such as COVID-19, influenza, and the common cold. If you exhibit symptoms of an acute respiratory infection—such as cough, fever, runny nose, or sneezing—you will not be permitted to attend the course. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping to prevent the spread of infection.

5.8 Media: You grant us permission to use any images or videos of you taken during the Course for media, marketing, and/or publicity purposes. You also consent to us using any course evaluations, testimonials, and reviews of our services for similar purposes.

6. Physical Demands and Ability

6.1 Physical Requirements: The Course involves physical activities that require a certain level of physical ability. These activities may include, but are not limited to, performing CPR with the manikin placed on the ground, moving and positioning individuals, and practicing first aid techniques.

6.2 Physical Ability: It is your responsibility to ensure that you possess the physical capability to meet the requirements of the Course. If you have any doubts about your ability to meet these physical demands, please consult with a medical professional before enroling.

6.3 Assessment Evidence: To successfully complete the Course, you must complete all practical assessments. Failure to complete any one or more of these assessments will result in being marked as Not Yet Competent and ineligibility to receive a Certificate.

6.4 Notification of Limitations: If you have any physical limitations or conditions that may affect your ability to participate in the Course, you must notify us at the time of enrolment. We will endeavour to accommodate such limitations where feasible but cannot guarantee modifications or adjustments.

6.5 Liability for Inability to Complete: We accept no liability for any inability to complete the Course or assessments due to physical limitations or health issues. It remains your responsibility to ensure that you meet the physical requirements to successfully complete the Course.

7. ICT Proficiency

7.1 E-Learning Component: All participants in our blended First Aid courses are required to complete an e-learning component

7.2 ICT Proficiency Requirements:To ensure a successful learning experience, you must possess a minimum level of ICT proficiency, which includes, but is not limited to:

  • Basic Computer Skills: Familiarity with using computers and mobile devices.
  • Website Navigation: Ability to navigate a website effectively to access course materials and resources.
  • Email Communication: Proficiency in using email for communication purposes.

7.3 Confirmation of Proficiency: By enrolling in the course, you confirm that you meet the minimum ICT proficiency requirements outlined above.

7.4 Recommendations for Improvement: If you believe you may not meet the ICT proficiency requirements, we strongly recommend that you consider taking a foundational ICT skills course prior to enrolling in our Course. This step can help facilitate a smoother and more effective learning experience for you.

8. Cancellations and Refunds

8.1 Course Cancellation: We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the Course if necessary. In such cases, you will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer to a future Course.

8.2 Participant Cancellation: If you wish to cancel your enrolment, you must notify us via email at info@coastalfirstaid.com.au. Refunds will be processed according to the following schedule:

  • Cancellations made more than 7 days before the Course start date: 75% refund.
  • Cancellations made within 7 days of the Course start date: No refund.

8.3 Non-Attendance: If you do not attend your course, for any reason, no refunds will be issued to you.

8.4 Late Attendance: If you arrive late to the Course, you will be informed that you are unable to attend. No refunds will be issued to you. A re-booking fee of 25% of your course fee applies if you wish to complete the course on a new course date.

9. Course Transfers

9.1 Course Date Transfer: We will allow you one transfer to a new course date, free of charge

9.2 Course Type Transfer: We will allow you one transfer to a new course type. You will be required to pay any difference in course fees. If your new course costs less than your original course and you have already accessed the e-learning materials for your original course, refunds will not be available.

9.3 Refunds With Transfers: No refunds will be issued after you have transferred to a new course date or course type. This includes cases where you do not attend the course or decide to cancel your enrollment afterward.

9.4 Notification: Any request for a transfer to a new course or copurse type date must be submitted via email and received by us at least 48 hours prior to the start of the Course.

9.5 Transfers Due To Sickness: Requests for transfer due to illness/sickness within 48 hours of the course start time will be reviewed by us. These requests must be accompanied by a medical certificate. If a medical certificate is not provided by you, your course fee will be forfeited.

9.6 Transfers To Another Person: Enrolments are not transferable to another person. You cannot transfer your enrollment to another individual under any circumstances. 

10. Certification

10.1 Completion: Successful completion of the Course requires you to meet all of the assessment criteria of the course. This includes the successful completion of e-learning modules and exam for blended courses.

10.2 Certification: Upon successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment (Certificate). Certificates will be issued to you in electronic format (PDF), to your Axcelerate account. No paper certificates will be issued.

10.3 Issuing Timeframe: Certificates are not issued on the day of the Course and we do not guarantee a specific timeframe for issuance. We will endeavour to issue certificates as promptly as possible.

10.4 Issuing Name: Certificates can only be issued to you as per your current name, on your USI record, at the time of your enrolment. The RTO can not re-issue you your certificate in a different name if you change it at a later time.

10.5 Copies: Copies of certificates will be provided free of charge, via your Axcelerate account. 

11. Liability

11.1 Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claims arising from your participation in the Course is limited to the amount paid for the Course.

11.2 Indemnity: You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your participation in the Course.

12. Privacy

12.1 Data Protection: We collect and handle personal data in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. For further information, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New South Wales and Australia. Any disputes arising under these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.

14. Amendments

We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Any changes will be communicated to you, and your continued participation in the Course will constitute acceptance of the revised Terms.
